DescriptionKipeto Energy PLC (KEP) is a 100 MW wind-power project in Kenya. It is the second-largest wind farm in the country and is in Kajiado County, approximately 80 kilometres south of Nairobi.KEP is establishing a Community Trust that will focus on implementing projects to help communities in the areas surrounding the wind farm (including the transmission line). - A degree in a relevant field including: accounting, business, engineering, healthcare, education.
- Membership of a legal authorising body such as CA, Eng, etc. is preferred.
- Master’s degree in a relevant field including: Business Administration (MBA), Engineering, Healthcare, Education, is preferred.
- At least 5-10 years working in a relevant field i.e healthcare, education, WASH or sustainable livelihoods
- Experience in leadership, governance, and oversight functions
- Demonstrated capability in development work, public administration, advocacy, legal and human rights, human resource management, accounting and finance, media and ICT, or resource mobilization
- Prior experience serving on a non-profit board will be highly beneficial
- Demonstrated passion for the thematic program areas of the Trust including Education, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), and Health
- An understanding of the role of a charity trustee: the responsibilities, and the capacity and abilities to perform effectively in the role
- Oversee the general strategy of the Trust such as ensuring that the Trust is investing in the agreed focus areas
- Ensuring that the Trust management team is acting in accordance with the Trust Deed and meeting external legal and financial requirements such as tax obligations
- The Trustee has a legal duty to act impartially in the interests of all the beneficiaries
- Strong communication and reporting skills are vital
- Must be highly organised and able to effectively execute on tasks
- Strong numerical skills
- Ability to think out of the box and apply creative problem-solving techniques
