Our Client, Tax Justice Network Africa (TJNA) is a Pan-African organisation and member of the Global Alliance for Tax Justice (GATJ). TJNA advocates for pro-poor taxation systems and strengthening of tax regimes to promote domestic resource mobilisation. They aim at challenging harmful tax policies and practices that favour the wealthy, and those that aggravate and perpetuate inequality. TJNAs policy influencing enables citizens and institutions to seek fair tax systems.
About The Role
In this new role, the Human Resource & Administration Manager spearheads the development and implementation of human resource strategies, initiatives and practices in alignment to TJNA’s objectives. The role will be the organization’s human resource focal point, overseeing the HR & administration function and its team members. Acting as HR business partner to the executive director and senior management team (SMT), they shall offer technical HR advice, support, solutions and initiatives that contribute to a positive employee value and work environment.
The Human Resource & Administration Manager will also proactively collaborate with the SMT to identify issues that impact the function’s service quality and consistency, subsequently improving and advancing the delivery of HR and administration services within TJNA.
Location: Nairobi, Kenya, willing to relocate if not based in Kenya
Line Manager: Executive Director
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Duration: 2 years, renewable

In This Role, You Will
- Formulate a strategic employee value proposition in line with TJNA’s objectives as well as develop corresponding action plans and HR polices.
- Act as TJNA’s HR Business partner providing management with crucial operational and technical advisory related to human resources matters and ensure best practices.
- Spearhead all aspects of TJNA’s employee life cycle including talent acquisition, on boarding & staff exit management, retention, learning and development, performance management, employee relations and, compensation and benefits administration.
- Implement TJNA’s HR policies as well as ensure compliance is adhered to, as per regulatory and labor law requirements.
- Streamline and enhance human resources and administration systems, tools, processes for optimal efficiency.
- Manage HR administration and general administration including procurement management in line with donor regulations.
- Oversee implementation of procurement procedures as per TJNA’s policies and monitor procurements ensuring that they comply with set procedures.
- Provide HR data/metrics to support and enhance quality service delivery as well as inform TJNA’s strategic HR direction.
- Recruit and supervise the HR and administration function’s team members.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, Business Administration or a related field with a specialization in HR. Masters degree is an added advantage.
- Membership with IHRM, SHRM, CIPD or an equivalent HR professional body is strongly preferred.
- 5-7 years HR experience with a minimum of 2-3 years in a senior HR generalist supervisory role, in a not-for-profit/NGO/ CSO/ INGO.
- Proven leadership skills and a competence in people management, especially in a multicultural environment.
- Demonstrated understanding and working knowledge/experience of Human Resources Management principles, concepts & processes.
- Experience developing Human Resources strategies and policies, and driving implementation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Kenyan labor law is necessary. Knowledge of International Labor regulation requirements will be an added advantage.
- Operational experience in procurement and logistics is preferred, not necessary.
- Strong computer skills, including experience with HR software systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to deliver competing priorities, including prioritizing and delegating appropriately.
- Emotional intelligence skills to engage and influence people at different levels and diverse backgrounds.
- Exceptional skills in handling and advising on complex people management issues.
- Strong ethics, able to handle information confidentially with discretion and integrity.
- Proactive, self-driven and team-oriented.
