Empowerment Kenya (DEK) is an organization with members drawn from the deaf community,
DEK was registered in the year 2008. The organization was formed to empower the community about the needs of deaf persons and to promote full participation of the deaf community in the society. The organization was formed to economically empower deaf persons through initiating a savings and loaning scheme also known as a “merry go round”.
Over the years the group’s membership steadily increased making the founders recognize the need to formerly register themselves and develop guiding rules and principles. The organization mandate is to empower young people with disability and promote their full participation on matters related to health, education, economic empowerment, gender.
Promotion and employment in the society. The organization operates as network under
Nation Council of Person with Disability in Kenya DEK in partnership with Girl Child Network who is the lead partner will be implementing the project on “Green Youth 360 targets vulnerable hard to reach refugee and host community youth between the ages of 15 – 24 years including youth living with disabilities in Garissa county with Dadaab refugee and the community.

Working under the Head of Programs, the Project officers will support in the coordination of the day to day project activities, data collection, and reporting. They will also be responsible for the mobilization of participants, preparation of training notes and programs, facilitating all the training, and reporting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree either in environmental studies, sociology, education, or any other
- relevant social sciences.
- Additionally, the potential applicants must have over 4 years of experience in project
- management and coordination specifically in sectors of green skills or climate change
- adaptation.
- Strong communication and lobbying skills
- Willingness to travel to field projects/ stay in project area
